In the Fall of 2001 I was invited to perform on the concert series at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. The Cathedral is famous for its resonance: the decay of sound lasts close to 9 seconds. I spent 6 weeks in the space creating a structured improvisation in 7 movements, with each movement dealing with a different aspect of the acoustic properties of the space. The performance of Do Birds Ever Dream of Falling took place on September 23rd.
